Many of Britain’s top outdoor writers and photographers gathered for the ‘Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild’ (OWPG) Annual Awards ceremony which took place on Saturday 25th October at Plas y Brenin, the National Mountain Centre in Snowdonia.

The Awards celebrate the very best in British and European outdoor and adventure writing and photography and are judged by a range of panellists from across the outdoor industry.

The winner of the ‘Best Guide Book Award 2014’, sponsored by Aquapac International, was awarded to Carl Rogers and Tony Bowerman, for the ‘Official Guide: Wales Coast Path: Llŷn Peninsula’.

It’s part of a seven book series covering the whole of the 870-mile long Wales Coast Path, published by Northern Eye Books.

Julie Churchill, Chair of the Mountain Heritage Trust and member of the judging panel, said: “All the nominees have demonstrated outstanding skill and talent which has made the selection of winners incredibly hard.”

Of the ‘Official Guide: Wales Coast Path: Llŷn Peninsula’ guide, the judges commented: “It’s a gorgeous looking book which matches its contemporary design and feel with well aimed and informative snippets of information as you go. There’s a great deal of detail packed into the pages and the book stands up on its own – you wouldn’t need much more to get you round the peninsula!”

The attractive, full colour, 168 page, map-pocket size book — ISBN 978-1-908632-24-1 — is widely available from UK wholesalers and retailers with an RRP of £12.99.
